Hi Paul and All,
Just a cautionary note here, a former work colleague; who still organises his entry re-unions; has difficulty increasing the attendance, because people sadly can?t afford to attend! Transport, meal, drinks and accommodation might be approaching cost-prohibitive for some people. It is a shame, but a sad fact, not everyone fairs well. Having said that; in this case I?m in favour of a locally sourced piper and Paul?s kind offer of a ?roll on the drums? will add a nice touch of nostalgia to the evening and therefore, gets my vote. Apologies for starting off as a killjoy but it is worth opening this up to as many 217 members as possible.

Paul Hardy says...
For those that have not seen the small print on the bottom of the front page of this web site Nick is looking for some ideas for our re-union night entertainment.
Amongst things suggested is a piper from the Golden Oldies. It is quite common for entries to obtain the services of a G/O piper to pipe members in to the evening meal.It is also customary to to provide said piper (& possibly his wife if attending) a meal afterwards. Also, whilst the piper gives up his time voluntarily it is once again customary to reimburse his petrol costs, usually to the tune of 20p/mile (however there are several pipers who do live fairly close to Halton so that would not be to painfull). If we collectively wish to do this I,being in the Golden Oldies, can arrange it (& I'll even bring my drum along to accompany him - free of charge of course !!).Also the piper usually does a turn after the meal which usually involves a bit of a sing-along but I won't give too much away.
Other things we could include perhaps would be photo/news board for those who may have any of the period and how about a CD or two of music of the time playing in the background?
Anyway that's started the ball rolling,

ATB

Gents,

Those of you who are not Zeppelin members, do you have a photo of your flight crest available? I need one to add to the Zeppelin flight Tiger already on the banner design. My e-mail is gerald@evans54.orangehome.co.uk I need it ASAP so I can get onto the design company. If I don't get one soon I will go ahead and just have the Tiger's head printed.

Admittedly, I have only been to one Triennial, and i didn't attend all of it, itbut I met up with Bill (Taff) Jones before and during the celebrations, it was nice to be with an old mate and I think it would be nice to see the 217 guys seperate from the Triennial. I have no objection to travelling twice to Wendover within a short period, firstly it gives me something to look forward to, and it would be a welcome break to make two journeys from Cardiff. it would also sallow me to orgonise a leave from Saudi in one lump and spend a month at home, especially as my birthday occures in September too.
The Banner! Gerry I reckon it would be good to have the banner at both occasions, and I think you should include all the flights mascots on it. I have not displayed it on the website because this site uses HTML format and the picture you sent me Gerry is in PDF format. so if you can correct hat I would be only too glad to show it.
